About Ian
I have been in the information and communication technology services industry for over 25 years, operating Gold Coast Computers on the Gold Coast, Australia. I provide professional consultations for home users, retirees, and small businesses — computer sales with full setup, software and virus issues, networks, backup, and practical business IT.
Clients often ask if I grew up with computers. My answer surprises them: no, I did not. There were limited “green screens” in my high school during the eighties, but they were not particularly appealing. I grew up before computers and the internet were normal parts of society. That background helps me explain technology patiently to people who did not grow up with it either.
I hold recognised professional certifications in IT which I still draw upon today. Attending technology events and educational seminars helps me stay current — so recommendations stay practical, not trendy for their own sake.
